Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague (1997) and at the
Composition Department of the Music Academy in Poznan (1999). PhD
degree in Composition at the Music Academy in Poznan (2003). Studied

Pstrokonska-Navratil, Wlodzimierz Kotonski and Marek Jasinski.
Writes electronic, chamber and symphonic pieces as well as music for
theatre, radio and film. Works mostly in Szczecin, Berlin and
Amsterdam. His works are performed by ensembles, soloists and
orchestras in Poland and abroad.
Klimek's compositional aesthetic is derived from the ancient idea of
catharsis, considered to be the basic aim of any artistic experience.
His music therefore uses a broad spectrum of techniques to achieve
the emotional effect on the listeners, being at the same time on the
edge of modern cold-blooded experiment and in the middle of typicaly
Slavic ocean of hysteria.
Klimek teaches as a member of
the Art Education Department at the University of Szczecin. Occasionally
guest-lecturing at universities and conservatories abroad.
Runs an independent audio publishing house.
